Edge Engine Version:
Installation:
If you have the standalone version of this, you don't need to have Doom2.
Download the ge64ddf-installer.zip file on the
page otherwise the
ge64ddf.zip.
If you don't have the standalone installer, unzip the ge64ddf.zip file to
your c:\Doom2 directory.
Within the c:\Doom2 directory,
there will be directory within there called
c:\Doom2\ge64ddf.
Playing:
If you have the standalone version, Simply click Start->All
Programs/Programs->GoldeneyeDoom2,
otherwise
you can run the
c:\doom2\ddfge64.EXE
or
you can run the
c:\doom2\ge64ddf.bat
Troubleshooting:
Launching:
If you are having issues launching the program, first try launching it with
both the executable launcher and the batch file. If it doesn't appear it
means one of two things.
One you don't have all the files or you are missing some files.
Video:
If you have a pretty recent computer and you can't get any high resolution
modes.
You will need to make sure you have the latest version of DirectX, which
is available
here.
You may also need to download the lastest video card drivers for your computer.
The drivers that come bundled with Windows are usually very crusty and often
causes some newer games not to run properly.
Edge Engine:
1.28a Use this version if you need to use the software
renderer.
1.29 RC #3 Latest release candidate with new features,
sound may
work.
1.29 RC #3 Compiler Configs Multi Executibles using different compiler
settings, use this if you can't get the above to work.
** If you had an earlier version of GoldenEye edge version you may have to
delete the ge64levs.gwa file in the
c:\Doom2\ge64ddf
folder**

DEH Port Version/ZDaemon Version:
Pre-Installation Checks:
Make sure you have the latest Doom2 version 1.9.
If you need the patches, see this
link.
You need to have either
Zdaemon
or
Doom Legacy 1.32+
or ZDoom
(1.22)
or some other DEH enabled port.
MAC Users: you will need to download
MacLegacy.
Installation:
Download either the goldeneyedoom2.zip or both gold64.zip and ge64levs.zip.
Unzip these files to your
c:\Doom2 directory.
Playing:
If you have the standalone version, Simply click Start->All
Programs/Programs->GoldeneyeDoom2,
otherwise you can run the
c:\doom2\gelaunch.exe
You can also use the following:
(portname) -deh gold64.deh -file gold64.wad ge64lev.wad
Troubleshooting:
After that you can play GoldenEyeDoom2 by running the GeLaunch.exe
or by typing:

Doom2/Doom1 Version:
Pre-Installation Checks:
Make sure you have the latest Doom1 v1.7 or Doom2 version 1.9.

MAC Users: you will need to download
MacLegacy.
Installation:
If you are using Doom1 download ge64doom. Doom2 download ogold64.zip and
oge64lev.zip.
Unzip these files to your
c:\Doom or
c:\Doom2 directory.
Playing:
If you have the standalone version, Simply click Start->All
Programs/Programs->GoldeneyeDoom2,
otherwise you can run the
(doom game) - file ogold64.wad oge64lev.wad
Troubleshooting:
Make sure you have the latest version of the Doom1 or Doom2 patches |
Tips for Playing:
-
In the Dam level: you will need to activate the two computers(located in
the basement of towers) to exit the level, then you can jump off the dam.

In the Facility: you will need to activate the timed security doors and shoot
the barrels to exit. Then exit via the Conveyor belt or the doors that will
open.

In the Runway: you will need to grab the plane key then run to the plane.

In the Frigate: you must free all the civilians/scientists then head towards
the side of the railing or towards the helicopter.

In the Surface you will need to find some key cards and try to open the safe,
then goto ventilation shaft to exit.

In the Bunker1 you will need to find the key cards, goldeneye key, and copy
the mainframes data.

In the Elevator1 you will need to hit the elevator button a few times.

In the Frigate look around and you will find the exit on the outside of the
frigate on the other side. There is a gap in the gates.

In the Surface2 you will need to find a key card and shoot the computer located
in the satellite building then head towards the Helicopter Landing.

In the Secret Level 1: the exit is a hidden trap floor behind a desk.
-
In the Secret Level 2: the exit is hidden in a closet.
-
In some of the levels after MAP16 some of them may not be implemented.

In Maps 23-27 there is no bad guys implemented yet, just find the exit, it
should be located by a computer console.
